Arrive in Athens and proceed to your exclusive hotel in the Acropolis area.
Take the rest of the day to explore at your leisure some of the capital’s architectural landmarks and vibrant neighbourhoods.
Depart for the prestigious wine region of Nemea in Argolida. Nemea is famous for its trademark Agiorgitiko variety, a red and hearty breed that has been cultivated since antiquity and is now recognized as one of the world’s finest reds due to its freshness and ripeness, medium body and smooth tannins. Your first wine tasting will take place in an award-winning vineyard. You will be dining on traditional local cuisine and you’ll have time to discover the archaeological sites of the region. A boutique hotel right in the heart of the beautiful and charismatic city of Nafplion will be your home for the next three days.
After touring the site of Mycenae, one of Greece’s oldest civilizations, you’ll return to Nemea’s 2,500 years of viniculture history to sample some of Greece’s most internationally-recognized wines, such as distinct wine varieties of Agiorgitiko and intense tastes of Chardonnay with fruit aromas and long lasting aftertaste. One deluxe winery will host your lunch. Next, you’ll explore a wonderful organic vineyard that produces ambrosial bio-products such as balsamic vinegar with honey. Your day ends with a wine tasting and dinner in a stylish restaurant. Wine tasting country tour.
Your morning begins with a visit to the incredible, world-renowned theatre of Epidaurus. Next, we will make a stop to taste regional specialities at a pretty dairy-producing village before arriving at another leading winery that will welcome you for a tour and tasting of its evolutionary Agiorgitiko-Cabernet Sauvignon, the pinnacle of its endeavours. Vivid vineyards and landscapes accompany your route back to Nafplion. Wine tasting country tour.
The wine traditions of Arcadia beckon. A visit en-route to Mantinea is an absolute must. Mantinea’s connection to viniculture is as old as its history – the “grapevine of Pafsanias”, possibly the world’s oldest vine is located here! In Mantinea, you’ll sample truly exceptional local wine varieties made using traditional hand-made techniques at an esteemed local vineyard – where you’ll meet the famous white Moschofilero variety, alongside some stand-out reds. A lunch of authentic Greek cuisine is served afterwards in a nearby restaurant. Overnight in another premium guesthouse, at the foothills of the Mainalon Range (in northern Arcadia), where you’ll enjoy a light dinner, accompanied with delicious Mediterranean salads. Wine tasting country tour.
Today we drive to another elite winery near the ancient walls of Mantinea, with white and red varieties produced from organically cultivated vineyards and optional visit to the fascinating Kapsia Caves. Next, we’ll move on to a charming alpine village perched on a hilltop and enjoy an included wine tasting experience at a local bar against a stirring village backdrop. Back to the hotel, where you’ll have the option for a traditional Greek cooking class to enhance your gastronomic repertoire (and impress family and friends when you return home!).
Return to Athens and follow ancient paths and visit the famous Acropolis and the Parthenon, followed by the world-class Acropolis museum and wander in the paved streets, taking time for a café or Gelato. In the evening dinner arrangements have been made in coastal Athens.
The last day is dedicated to the blessed land of the famed Attica Vine, Mesogaia. You will be welcomed with a tour of an innovative and modern winery, housed in an old monastery, and famous for its progressive bioclimatic standards. Taste exceptional on-site wine varieties, such as the dry white Savvatiano with a citrus aroma and pleasant aftertaste. En-route to another local winery, you will discover the majestic Poseidon Temple, followed by a scenic drive along the Athenian Riviera (Greek Riviera is a different region around Spetses, Porto Heli, etc) and a farewell lunch of Greek cuisine.
