Diving-in-Ionian-Sea-DAY1Arrive on Kefalonia and proceed to your elegant boutique hotel in Fiskardo with splendid views over Lefkada and Ithaca islands. Meet your hosts at Fiskardo-Divers to complete registration and get fitted for dive gear (exclusively Scubapro). Visit the dive centre’s Environmental Museum to learn about Kefalonia’s rare protected marine life (such as the Caretta turtle and the Mediterranean monk seal) and the compelling history of Bristol Beaufighter, the WWII English warplane shot down by Germans over Fiskardo in 1944. Free evening. Scuba diving Greece.

Diving-in-Ionian-Sea-DAY2 Breakfast on the hotel’s terrace enveloped by majestic cypresses and orange groves. Departure to Emblissi (10 am), a rich and protected eco-system that comprises much fish, invertebrate species and ancient pottery relics among hills of Posidonia oceanica seagrass (max depth 15m). Today’s 2nd dive will take you to The Cliff, a majestic place. There, you’ll be entranced by abundant sea life and strange “mushroom-like” rock formations, where groupers conceal themselves among holes. Sightings of sea hares and the very rare Mediterranean Monk Seal are also possible (adjustable max depth from 12-40m). Return at 2 pm. Free afternoon and evening.

Diving-in-Ionian-Sea-DAY3 Breakfast at the hotel. Departure to the Barge (10 am), a 50m long wreck sunk in 2008 during a fierce storm, and now lying at a depth of between 5-25m. Algae and sponges have colonized the wreck, sculpting an arresting artificial habitat for many marine species including the beautiful labelling. Today’s 2nd site is Xeropunta, an easy coastal dive (max depth 15m).

Relax and explore small canyons and a shallow cavern (6m deep) where you can admire bright coral-encrusted walls – and perhaps, the great sleeper lobster. Return at 2 pm. For this afternoon, we have arranged a mild hiking adventure, involving some of the most beautiful sights of the area through the organized footpaths of Fiskardo. Free evening. Sailboat rental.
